5-Bromo Indole is a yellow crystalline powder that comes with pungent odour and pyrrole ring fused to benzene ring. The Indole can be traced in some plants or in coal tar and is also formed in the intestine during putrefaction as well as by certain cultures of bacteria. The Indole finds extensive usages in perfumery, dyes, agrochemicals and medicines and in the preparation of tryptophan. 5-Bromo Indole is also used in the preparation of indoleacetic acid and other plant growth substances that help develop plant roots.
